Newsflash: People learn better from myths and stories than dry facts

I was reading this article today and one of the comments struck me as amazingly silly.
To paraphrase, “People seem to learn better from a tv drama than from a news report.”
Well, duh. When people watch a movie or a tv show, they have a chance to empathize with the characters and their circumstances. A news report doesn’t give that kind of interaction.
There’s a reason why all of those myths were so popular, why the bible isn’t just the 10 commandments (which one anyway?), why historical fact has to be recorded to be remembered.
We remember what makes us emotional, like a story. We’re just built that way.
