SELMA, CALIFORNIA
RAISIN CAPITAL OF THE WORLD
Selma adopted the name “Raisin Capital of the World” in 1963. The name was adopted because 93 percent of the world’s raisin crop is cultivated within a 10 mile radius of the city.
UNION STATION
ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI
Opened in grand style in 1894, the station was expanded in 1903 to accommodate the tremendous influx of vistors and new residents who added so much to St. Louis’ culture and history during the 104 World’s Fair. Reopened in 1985 as a cultural and entertainement mecca, the station attracts and pleases millions of visitors; a logical and continuing history for one of the world’s largest train stations which handled over 100,00 travelers daily in it’s transportation heyday.
