Pilates pain

I’ve been walking pretty much every day, working myself up to longer and longer walks. I’ve been enjoying it, and I thought that maybe I should start taking a group class like yoga or Pilates for strength and flexibility. I’ve lifted weights, but it’s not very fulfilling for me, so I hoped that a group class would be more interesting.
I went to a Pilates class yesterday. I knew it was going to be hard since I haven’t worked out in a long time, but I forgot how much it hurts to work out in general. Pilates is all about strengthening your ‘core’ muscles which includes the muscles from your abs to your butt, and apparently my abs are… lacking.
I do have to say that it really was more fun than lifting weights. There was a lot of humor and general comments by others in the class which made it more fun than sitting there by yourself lifting weights. Not that that doesn’t have it’s place. Also, I’ve injured myself before lifting weights by accidentally lifting (a very light) weight improperly. I think it will be less likely that I can injure myself with Pilates.
However I think Pilates messes with your head.
Last night I had a nightmare - and this is really silly - that it was December 23rd and I all of the sudden realized that I hadn’t sent out any holiday cards. Yep, that was the nightmare. Full on adrenaline, heart pounding, fist clenching nightmare. Over holiday cards.
I blame Pilates.
