Wow. I didn’t realize how late in the week it was! Memorial day has thrown it all off.
I have no interesting insights for you today. Sorry! It’s a rainy day in Alaska, which really means it’s a rainy week. It’s the one thing I like about down south, the way that you can get rain, usually in the afternoon, and it just goes away after an hour or so.
Also, thunder and lightening. I was seven years old before I saw my first live lightening storm, and it was pretty pathetic by most standards. I was so very excited though, I thought it was beautiful.
I thought the same thing when I was in Mississippi and a tropical storm came in. Grandpa took me down to the pier and we just watched the storm roll in. The lightening was absolutely amazing. I was entranced. My favorite was the lightening between clouds, I thought that was so neat.
It’s different now in Alaska, we get a lot more thunder and lightening here than when I was a kid. It’s one of the clearest signs of global warming - that we regularly get thunder and lightening. As a matter of fact, just the other day two hikers who went storm watching were knocked out by lightening. One had to be hiked out by rescue teams on a stretcher.
