Movie Review: Camille (2007)

There’s an independent film festival going on right now here in Anchorage. We decided it would be fun to watch a few films. As a bonus, it’s at the Beartooth Theatre which servers food and drinks during the show, as well as allowing you to reserve seats if you like.
We reserved seats. The lines for the shows start forming about an hour before any show, and it just isn’t worth it, even if the tickets are only a couple of dollars. Anyway, it’s only $20 to reserve a booth, so it’s very worth it. AND you can have dinner and a beer while watching your movie, how cool is that?
So the first movie we went to watch was called Camille. This isn’t the classic movie, it’s a dark comedy, as in it’s a zombie love story. Seriously. And as weird as that sounds, it works.
This movie is amazingly good. The first part was really aggravating, as both characters were pretty immature, but as it goes on it gets better and better as they grow up emotionally. I don’t even know how I can describe it, other than to say it’s awesome. (I really hate when people summarize a movie and manage to give away very important things. Like the ending.) If I hadn’t been in a theater, I never would have watched this movie, but I’m really glad I did.
I liked it a whole bunch better than I liked watching Chinatown which admittedly is an excellent movie and is another I wouldn’t have watched if I wasn’t in the theater. It doesn’t change the fact that I really hate it and never want to ever see it again.
Also, you can get desserts like this:
I’m told they were just as good as they looked. They weren’t gluten free so I couldn’t eat it, but Wow!!
