Apparently Californians do not knit

Or at least they do not knit that much. Irvine, the little town I am staying in, has a Joann’s and a Micheals, but no bona fide knit shop.
It is NOT a real town. Even Seward, AK, a postage stamp sized town with about 500 year-round residents has a knit shop. Heck, Julia Roberts and Vanna were supposed to have made knitting trendy! Where’s my knit shops, California?
Yesterday I visited a cute and tiny knit shop in Santa Ana. The owner was very, very nice, and there was a group of women knitting at the table. They were knitting with wool, which just about made me whimper as there was no breeze or air conditioning, and 75 degrees was far too hot for this Alaskan girl. I know it’s winter… but 75 degrees is hot summer weather for me.
About the class? I’m reserving my judgment for now.
