Purely Whimsical

So today, one of the guys I work with announced he was going to lunch at around 11:30. On his way out, he got stopped as the air conditioners in our data center were on the fritz (again).

So he hung around until they were fixed, and started out the door again, only to be stopped again because some of his servers were down. Turns out the high temps must have killed an interface on one of our routers, I fixed it and all was good. By this time it’s 1:30pm, and he does some additional checking to make sure all was well.

At around 2pm or so, he announced that he was going to lunch, and got up to leave. An evil imp that lives inside of me made me say, “So where are you going?”

Now, I really didn’t care where he went to lunch. I know that if I ask him, he’s going to take a while to think about it, thus further delaying his lunch.

Quickly I apologized and said, “No, no, go, I’m just messing with you, to see if I can delay your lunch even more!”

We all laughed, as it was funny, but in an evil kind of way. He left at a run before any of us could think of anything more to drag it out.

I felt kind of bad, it just popped out of my mouth. What can I say but that I’m only slightly evil?
